By Mark Roberts PITTSBURGH (December 26, 2005) AFTRA Pittsburgh is saddened to learn of the passing of one of its long-time members, William A. Fleming. Bill died at his Dormont home Thursday at age 67.
After leaving the army, bill returned to Pittsburgh in 1964. He was heard on KDKA as an on-air personality for many years in the 1970s. He also worked as Production Manager at Magic 97 in the 1980s. Bill's "Voice of God" graced many radio and television commercials over the years, including a series of award-winning radio spots for Pittsburgh Brewing. His resonant baritone was also recognized as the definitive Santa Claus. Bill was preceded in death my his wife Judith M. Fleming, and is survived by his son, Scot, his daughter Erin, and his brother Gordon. Viewing will be from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 on Wednesday, December 28 at the Hershberger-Stover Funeral Home, 170 Noble Ave., Crafton, and a service (also at the Funeral Home) will be at 11:00 on the 29th. Our deepest sympathies to Bill's family. Both the Post-Gazette and Tribune-Review published news obituaries on Monday.
