Robin Beckham, Manager of Public Affairs for United States Steel was presented with AFTRA's American Scene Award. Her production of Young, Gifted and Black: Pittsburgh's African-American Achievers capped a long list of distinguished shows she created while Director of Public Affairs at WPXI-TV.

From WNBA player Swintayla Marie Cash, who grew up in some of the toughest housing projects, to Dr. Dwight Heron, a radiation oncologist at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, to actor and soap star Lamman Rucker the documentary’s stories inspire the community and add to the fabric of the American scene.

After the presentation of the show, Vice-President David Early presented Ms. Beckham with her crystal award. Members then had the opportunity to meet Ms. Beckham, Mark Barish, WPXI Program Director and Dr. Heron.

At the Board of Directors meeting held earlier in the evening, the Board voted to approve WEAE-AM's new contract. The Board also voted to have freelancer David Flick fill the remainder of John Garry's term.
