By Mark Roberts
PHILADELPHIA (July 20, 2007) Following three days of committee meetings and the National Board plenary sessions, AFTRA's 70th Anniversary National Convention began yesterday in Philadelphia at the Sheraton Philadelphia City Center.
Yesterday, Delegates Paul Martino, David Early, Mark Roberts, Alan Boal, Barbara Boylan, and Dee Thompson joined first-timers Melanie Dreyer and David Flick for the first day's activites. John Haer and Chris Lacey represented staff.
Governor Ed Rendell welcomed the assembled delegates before we got down to business.
The Philadelphia local ended the day's events with a gala social at the Crystal Tea Room in the old Wanamaker's building which featured some spectacular music and a surprise performance by Martha Reeves.
This website will offer photos and coverage of the convention live from Philly. So watch this space!
