AFTRA members can help Stamp Out Hungeron May 12

Join with AFTRA members and millions of Americans on May 12 in the fight to end hunger. The AFL-CIO, the United States Postal Service, and Campbell Soup Company are partnering to once again sponsor Stamp Out Hunger, the nation’s largest single-day food drive. The event, created by the National Association of Letter Carriers, AFL-CIO in conjunction with America’s Second Harvest delivered over 70 million pounds of food in 2006.

This year’s goal is to raise 1 BILLION pounds of food for millions of hungry Americans.

What can AFTRA members do to help?

  1. Place bags filled with nonperishable food items next to your mailbox.*
  2. Your letter carrier will pick them up and deliver them to local food banks.**
  3. Print and sign the thank you to letter carriers to let them know that AFTRA members support the effort to end hunger in America. Click here to view and print the PDF thank you letter>>

*Donate items like canned meats and fish, canned soup, juice, pasta, vegetables, cereal, and rice. Please do not include items that have expired or those in glass containers.

**If you live in an urban area check with your letter carrier or bring food to your local post office and they’ll deliver it to local food banks.
