Another light in the local acting has gone out. Alice Gerber Eisner, whose film career didn't start until she was 60, was born on August 18, 1921 in Pittsburgh, and died on Friday, May 15, 2009. Alice was a fixture on the Pittsburgh entertainment scene. She started her career as a singer at Mercurs Music Bar with the late Erroll Garner. She continued singing and performing throughout her career. In recent years, she spent countless hours entertaining frail seniors. At age 60, she embarked on a film career where she had parts in such films as The Piano Lesson, The Cemetery Club, Zac and Miri Make a Porno and the cult classic, Bloodsucking Pharaohs in Pittsburgh. She sang "Beautiful Dreamer" in the movie Passed Away. Alice was a long time member of AFTRA, SAG and Hadassah. She leaves behind many dear friends; and touched the lives of many people. Though she will be dearly missed, her spirit lives on. As Alice always said, "Just be." She died just shy of her "88 keys" birthday. Send condolences at legacy.com. |
