Claudia J. Hizer, 67, of Baldwin, passed away Tuesday, June 23, 2009. Claudia served the Pittsburgh local of AFTRA for nineteen years, through the latter part of the Dan Mallinger years and the early part of the Mark Wirick era, until her early retirement for health reasons. Claudia was officially a secretary, but her actual job was much more wide-ranging. She virtually ran the office during Dan's illness, and was our institutional memory. Claudia was Office Manager before we had the title; she shepherded many of us through the tribulations of a performer's career, and saw to it that we got paid on time. Claudia was the beloved wife of Wayne Hizer; mother of Cara Brickett and Scott (Suzanne) Hizer; caring grandmother of Eric (Janine) Brickett, Kayleigh Brickett and Lillian Hizer; sister of Karen (David) Conrad, Denese (James) Scott, Susan Hanshaw, Kevin Scott and Keith Scott; daughter of the late Robert and Sarah Scott; also survived by son-in-law, Mark Brickett; stepmother, Carol Scott; and extended family. Claudia was a longtime member of the Stewart Avenue Lutheran Church and a volunteer at Leland Center. Visitation will be from 1 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the JEFFERSON MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME INC., 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pleasant Hills, where a service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday. Interment in Jefferson Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Stewart Avenue Lutheran Church, 2810 Brownsville Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15227. www.jeffersonmemorial.biz. AFTRA Pittsburgh, it's Officers, members and staff send our deepest sympathies to Claudia's family. You can sign Claudia's guest book at this link. |
