PITTSBURGH (Updated April 7, 2010) Philip R. Lester, 58, of Washington, died Tuesday, March 30, 2010, in UPMC-Presbyterian hospital, Pittsburgh. He was born August 15, 1951, in Sarnia, Ontario, Canada, a son of Margaret Gray Lester Crawford of Sarnia and the late Albert Crawford. Mr. Lester was a graduate of Westlane High School, Niagara Falls, and was employed as a broadcast journalist with CJRN Radio in Niagara Falls and KQV in Pittsburgh. He did play-by-play radio for University of Niagara, Buffalo Hockey and Niagara Falls Thunder, now the Erie Otters. Mr. Lester also was in the Canadian Air Force. On August 10, 2001, in Washington, he married Lynne Harriger, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Curtis Lester of Niagara Falls, Ontario; two brothers, Thomas of Sarnia and James of Toronto, Ontario; two sisters, Barbara Dawson of Calgary, Alberta, and Jan (Ken) Botari of Barrie, Ontario; and several nieces and nephews.
