   AFTRA, SAG , and the advertising industry’s ANA/AAAA Joint Policy Committee on Broadcast Talent Union Relations (JPC) today jointly announced an agreement to extend, through March 31, 2009, the terms of their Commercials Contracts.

   The members of the recently formed Metro bargaining unit have voted, and the proposed AFTRA Agreement has been unanimously ratified by the membership, according to John Haer, AFTRA Pittsburgh Executive Director.

   AFTRA announced today that their members have ratified a new three-year primetime television agreement (Exhibit A of the AFTRA Network Television Code) reached with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) by a 62.4% margin.

   Vote YES on the AFTRA Primetime TV Contract for higher pay, improved working conditions, payment for New Media, and to preserve consent for the use of clips. The National Board overwhelmingly approved the agreement and recommends that you VOTE YES when you receive your ballot.

   The National Board of Directors of AFTRA overwhelmingly approved and sent to its membership for ratification the tentative agreement its negotiating committee recently reached with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) on a new three-year primetime television contract (Exhibit A of the AFTRA Network Television Code) at its meeting yesterday.

   The American Federation of Television and Radio Artists announced that its Primetime Negotiating Committee, comprised of 31 working actors, will commence formal talks with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers regarding a new three-year Exhibit A of the Network Code.

   AFTRA's primary goal is to improve and protect the working lives of performers. During the past year, AFTRA has fought hard and expended an enormous amount of time, energy and resources to maintain the integrity of our Phase One joint bargaining process with the Screen Actors Guild, so we could sit across the table from the industry with total and unequivocal unity.

   The American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (AFTRA), has reached a tentative agreement with the four major television networks and producers on the Network Code, which is subject to AFTRA National Board approval and ratification from members.

   In a major endorsement of its standing as an independent union, the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (AFTRA) announced at its national board meeting yesterday that it has been granted a direct charter by the AFL-CIO, the nation’s largest labor federation.
